INTRODUCING
Food and Mood: The Glucose Connection
We’re excited to introduce you to continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), an advanced technology that offers valuable insights into your body’s reactions to different foods. While CGMs are commonly associated with managing diabetes, they have also become a valuable tool for those without diabetes who want to understand how their bodies respond to various foods.
A growing body of evidence suggests a relationship between mood and blood-sugar, or glycemic, highs and lows. Symptoms of poor glycemic regulation have been shown to closely mirror mental health symptoms, such as irritability, anxiety, and worry. This should come as no surprise, as the brain runs primarily on glucose.
It is now recognised that paying closer attention to our blood sugar levels could be a valuable tool in pursuing optimal mood and mental health.
By wearing a CGM, you can monitor your glucose levels in real-time, allowing you to observe how your body reacts to different meals and snacks. This personalised data can help you make informed choices about your diet, optimise your energy levels, and work towards improved health and well-being.
It’s an innovative way to gain a deeper understanding of how your body uniquely responds to the foods you enjoy.
Here is what you get:
01
Your CGM sensor will be sent to your door anywhere in New Zealand. The sensor sits on your arm and a small filament samples your glucose levels every minute.
Each sensor lasts 14 days.
02
CGM data is transmitted to a FREE app on your phone so you can check your glucose levels any time.
Add simple free notes about your meal, exercise, sleep or stress in the app.
* check your smartphone is compatible – see FAQs

Meet your expert – Bronwyn Hudson
Kia ora, I’m Bronwyn Hudson (MSc – Personalised Nutrition), a Registered Clinical Nutritionist and Certified Mental Health Coach, specialising in helping people to connect their dots between food and mood.
As I am moving through my 40s, I started noticing signs that I may not be balancing my blood glucose levels as well as I naturally did when I was younger. When I first used a continuous glucose monitor (CGM), I was fascinated at seeing how different foods spiked my blood sugar, and seeing the role stress, sleep and exercise played too.
I was equally fascinated seeing how easy it was to include some of the blood sugar hacks I had been teaching clients over the years could move my levels back into a really tight range.
I noticed that I experienced symptoms often related to anxiety when my glucose levels crashed after spikes, and that these became far less common when I kept my glucose in a tighter range. My energy across the day was more balanced too.
I am so excited to bring you this programme, so you can have a front row seat on your own levels, learn my smart hacks, and support improved metabolic health and mental health – it’s all connected.
